He was born Mithilesh Kumar Srivastava in Bihar's Siwan

district. He is said to have sold off the Taj Mahal to

foreigners thrice, the Red Fort twice and Rashtrapati

Bhawan once.

He escaped from custody at the age of 84 years at the New

Delhi railway station a was reported dead a few years later

by his lawyer.

Id this con-man whose name was popularized by an Amitabh

Bacchan starrer in the 1980s and will soon have his statue
